Intercession

(Read Luke 8 & 11)

Hebrews 7:25 25Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

(Would God put something as serious as life and death in the hands of an intercessor?

This question sounds like Cain’s question: “Am I my brother’s keeper?” (Gen 4:9).

Absolutely! It is time for the church to awaken with a revelation of what are the dimensions of it’s responsibility on earth! At times, the intercessor is to stand in the gap for one’s eternal life (his or hers salvation). At other times the Intercessor will be called on to stand in the gap for one’s physical life and safety, as well.

When we receive a word from God to pray:
1. We should agree with God and accept the burden.
2. Through prayer and faith we should identify the fact that the Lord wants to change the situation.
3. We intercede by praying for mercy.
4. We pray believing that a transfer has taken place in the heavenlies.)

Luke 18:1-7 1Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart, 2saying, “In a certain city there was a judge who did not fear God and did not respect man. 3“There was a widow in that city, and she kept coming to him, saying, ‘Give me legal protection from my opponent.’ 4“For a while he was unwilling; but afterward he said to himself, ‘Even though I do not fear God nor respect man, 5yet because this widow bothers me, I will give her legal protection, otherwise by continually coming she will wear me out.’” 6And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge said*; 7now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them?

(Continuing in prayer for a need is not unbelief. If the burden is still on your heart then continue to pray! The Lord will not give you a false burden. The very fact that you still sense an urgency for breakthrough is enough to believe that victory is yet to come. The Lord can tell us when a breakthrough occurs. And until He does we must pray.)

Luke 18:8 - “I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?”

(His intension for this kind of persistence is to instill an unwavering faith in the midst of every obstacle. And this kind of faith is developed by stretching our faith muscles.)

Summary:

The Lord is looking for those who are willing to extend the Kingdom of God into the church, the city, the nation and the world through prayer. We, the bride of Christ, should find a place in the world where we will invest our prayers, our tears, our fasting and our lives. Many are selfishly serving the trinity of the flesh: me, myself and I. Intercession is a passion not a pastime.
