WALKING IN THE SPIRIT - 4 (of 18)

Three requirements to walking in the Spirit:
Romans 6:11 - "Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus."
(1. Consider myself dead to sin.)

Ephesians 4:23-24 - "And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness."
(2. I have to put on walking in the Spirit.) ie. I make the decision each day to be led by my spirit rather than my soul (mind, will, and emotions). I walk with my spirit being led by the Holy Spirit.

Romans 12:2 - "And do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect."

(3. I have to renew my mind to the word of God.)

How do you renew your mind to the word of God?

Answer: By affirming your walk in the Spirit.

If I am dead to sin why do I sin?

Answer: Because of my un-renewed mind.

Romans 8:5 - "For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit."
(Walking in the spirit is a life style. Just because you are a born-again person does not mean that you are walking in the Spirit. Being born-again only means that you have the capacity to walk in the Spirit.)

Galatians 5:16 - "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh."
(If I walk in the Spirit I will not fulfill the flesh. Walking in the Spirit is the only way to overcome the flesh. You are not supposed to battle your flesh day and night.)

Romans 8:6 - "For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace."
(Walking in the flesh – Greek ‘sarx’ – is any way of thinking that opposes the word of God.)

Affirmations:

I LIVE AND WALK IN THE SPIRIT. (Galatians 5:25)

I MIND THE THINGS OF THE SPIRIT AND DO NOT WALK AFTER THE FLESH. (Romans 8:4)

I AM RENEWED IN THE SPIRIT OF MY MIND: AND I PUT ON THE NEW MAN, WHICH AFTER GOD IS CREATED IN RIGHTEOUSNESS AND TRUE HOLINESS. (Ephesians 4:23,24)
