CALLED TO BE A BRIDGE BETWEEN HEAVEN AND EARTH

Exodus 16:4 - Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law or no.

GOD TOOK A LITTLE, INSIGNIFICANT MATTER, THE FOOD THEY ATE--AND USED IT TO SEE IF THEY WOULD LISTEN TO HIM OR NOT. HE TOLD THEM HOW MUCH OF IT TO GATHER, WHEN TO GATHER AND WHEN NOT TO, AND WHAT TO DO WITH IT AFTER THEY BROUGHT IT IN.
AND THE ISRAELITES WENT RIGHT OUT AND VIOLATED THOSE INSTRUCTIONS. THEY SHOWED GOD BY THEIR ACTIONS THAT HIS VOICE WAS NOT IMPORTANT TO THEM. THEY WERE NOT WILLING TO OBEY EVEN HIS SIMPLEST COMMANDS.
GOD WORKS THE SAME WAY WITH US TODAY. BEFORE HE SENDS US ON A MAJOR MISSION, HE GIVES US THE OPPORTUNITY TO PROVE WE CAN BE TRUSTED WITH SMALL INSTRUCTIONS.

Luke 16:10 - He who is faithful in a very little (thing), is faithful also in much.

Ephesians 1:3 - Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.

The earthly minded will constantly try to restrain those who are seekers of God with such statements as,"don't become so heavenly minded that you are no earthly good," which is precisely the opposite of true wisdom.
Heaven is the realm into which we are called to abide with Christ Jesus, and the only truly effective ministry we will ever have on this earth is originated from that position.
The church that becomes to earthly minded is not doing the earth any good.
We are called to be a bridge between heaven and earth, and to represent the reality of all we have been given in Christ Jesus in the heavenly places.
Christians should be so saturated with heaven that it is more real to them than anything in the natural realm.

Ephesians 2:4-6 - But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, in Christ Jesus.

NEW REALM OF POSSIBILITIES

Matthew 10:8,9 - "And into whatsoever city you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you: And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you."

THE REALITY OF BEING BORN OF THE SPIRIT MEANS THAT A WHOLE NEW REALM OF POSSIBILITIES, CHALLENGES AND OBSTACLES NOW UNFOLDS BEFORE US. THE IDEA THAT THE ONLY RELATIONSHIP WE HAVE WITH HEAVEN IS THE ONE WE EXPERIENCE AT DEATH IS SIMPLY CONTRARY TO THE WORD OF GOD.

Hebrews 11:3 - "Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."

I NEED TO THINK, BELIEVE AND SPEAK, NOT ACCORDING TO THINGS WHICH ARE SEEN - MY CIRCUMSTANCES - BUT ACCORDING TO THINGS WHICH ARE NOT SEEN - THE WORD OF GOD. AS I AM FAITHFUL TO THINK, BELIEVE AND SPEAK ACCORDING TO THAT WHICH IS NOT SEEN, GOD WILL MAKE THOSE THINGS TANGIBLE IN MY LIFE. HE WILL MAKE THEM "SEEN"!

Psalm 25:14 - "The secret of the Lord is for those who fear Him, and He will make them know His covenant."

FEARING GOD MEANS TO HAVE RESPECT FOR HIM, TO ACKNOWLEDGE HIS MAJESTY AND GREATNESS, TO HONOR HIM AS GOD - TO RESPECT HIM AS THE MYSTERIOUS, INDESCRIBABLE LORD, TO BE FAITHFUL TO HIM AND TO FULLY AND UNCONDITIONALLY TRUST HIM.
AS I CHERISH HIS CLOSENESS HE DISCLOSES HIS SON, WHO IS THE HIGHEST SECRET OF ALL - CHRIST, THE MYSTERY OF ALL MYSTERIES.

Psalm 16:7 - "I will bless the Lord, Who has given me counsel: yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons."

MAKING A WAY IN THE WILDERNESS

Deuteronomy 30:19 - "I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life."

He was saying, "Stop procrastinating and hoping you will eventually get somewhere in life. Decide whether you're going to get a curse or a blessing. Decide whether you're going to die or live."

Affirmations:

I AM NOT DESIGNED TO DRIFT - I AM DESIGNED FOR DESTINY.

I AM NOT GOING TO PROCRASTINATE ON MY DREAM AND DRIFT ALONG, ENDING UP WHEREVER THE LUKEWARM TIDE TAKES ME.

I MAKE A PLAN AND FULFILL IT.

Revelation 3:15,16 - "I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm - neither hot nor cold - I am about to spit you out of my mouth."

Isaiah 43:18,19 - "Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."

When Jesus stood at the scene of the woman caught in adultery, revelation exploded. Men were present, obsessed with her mistake, ready to stone her.
But Jesus was looking at her "future" . With one single stroke of mercy, He removed her past: "Neither do I condemn thee" (John 8:11). Then, in a masterful stroke of the Master Artist, He painted a portrait of her future: "Go, and sin no more" (John 8:11).

LAUNCHING OUT INTO THE DEEP

Joshua 1:6 - "Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them."

Affirmation:

SINCE I AM COMMITTED TO PRAYER AND HAVE COURAGE TO STAND ON GOD'S WORD, I AM CONFIDENT THAT GOD WILL ANSWER FROM HEAVEN. I REFUSE TO GIVE UP IN THE MIDDLE OF BATTLE AND AM DETERMINED TO RECEIVE MY REWARD.

Hebrews 10:35 - "Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward."

Luke 5:4 - "Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets."

Affirmation:

I QUIT FISHING IN THE SAME WATERS I'VE BEEN FISHING IN FOR SO LONG. I GO TO NEW TERRITORIES AND GET READY TO CATCH MORE FISH THAN I EVER DREAMED POSSIBLE!

Luke 5:10 - "Don't be afraid! From now on you'll be fishing for the souls of men!"

Proverbs 24:16 - "For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief."

Psalm 37:23,24 - "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and He delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand."

KNOWING JESUS

"They said to one another, 'Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us?' And they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found gathered together the eleven and those who were with them, saying, 'The Lord has really risen and has appeared to Simon.' They began to relate their experiences on the road and how He was recognized by them in the breaking of the bread" (Luke 24:32-35).

When we discover who Jesus is at one level, He will empower us to know Him in a deeper and more profound way. Our hearts are ignited to burn with a passionate love. The living, resurrected Word will manifest in flesh (our flesh) once again.

Jesus was the firstborn of many brethren. God knew Jesus was the prototype, the first of many sons and daughters to come. God had a divine plan from before time began. God knew us before He brought the world into existence. After we are saved, He gives us His PURPOSE for our life.

God fashions the lives of those who love Him to reflect Jesus' life and ministry on earth.

Every one of us mirrors a diverse form and reflects a different aspect of Jesus. God orchestrates everything to bring forth His love and PURPOSE in our life. God is faithful to establish us in our CALLING, to build us until we are transformed into His image. We see who we are destined to become in glory when we see Jesus (see Romans 8:28-30).

As we mature in Christ we take on His form. We look more like the God we love. None of us look the same as we did ten years ago. If we are not continually changing, then we are stagnant. Remember, we are destined to know Him from glory to glory.

JACOB'S LADDER

John 1:51 - "Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see the heavens opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."

Jesus is Jacob's ladder which we ascend and descend upon.
It is our calling in Christ to both go higher and go lower. We are called to ascend into the heavenly places and be seated with Him there, and at the same time descend to the earth with the evidence of heaven's reality.
As children of the King, we are members of the greatest aristocracy in the universe, yet we go to the lowest sinners as their servants to help them join the true nobility.

Ezekiel 47:11 - "But its swamps and marshes will not be healed; they will be given over to salt."

SWAMPS REPRESENT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN
(1) CHURCH BODIES TURN INWARD AND CEASE TO HAVE A PURPOSE BEYOND THEMSELVES.
(2) INDIVIDUALS STAY IN PERPETUAL RECOVERY.

SWAMPS AND MARSHES ARE PLACES WHERE WATER GETS STUCK. WHEN WATER DOENS'T FLOW ANYWHERE, IT EVENTUALLY TURNS TO SALT. GOD SAYS TO US THAT BECAUSE YOU DON'T GO THERE, BECAUSE YOU WON'T FLOW THERE, YOU'RE GOING TO BE GIVEN OVER TO SALT.
WE'RE EITHER GOING TO BE GIVEN AS SALT TO THE WORLD, AS IT SAYS IN MATTHEW 5:13, WHERE WE ARE A PRESERVATIVE AND SEASONING - A GOOD THING; OR WE'LL BE GIVEN OVER TO BECOME AS DEAD-END SALT BEFORE THE WORLD - A BAD THING. NOTHING CAN LIVE IN THAT KIND OF SALT. IT'S A CURSE, A JUDGMENT.
EITHER WAY, WE WILL HAVE A SALT ENCOUNTER.

IMAGES OF FAITH

1John 3:2 -- "Beloved, now are we the sons of God......"

We will not become the sons of God when we get to heaven. We are sons of God now. If we aren't sons of God here, we won't make it to heaven.

We must have within us the image that God has of us: then we will be enlightened and see that God's fullness will dwell in us as we keep His Word.

FEAR GIVES SUBSTANCE TO THINGS NOT DESIRED

Job 3:25 -- "For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me."

The words we speak create: (1) images either of faith based on the authority of God's Word or (2) fear based on our failure to believe and act of God's Word. Just as faith in God's word gives substance to things hoped for (desired), on the other hand, fear give substance to things not desired.

The point is that every circumstance or situation life is subject to change if we are consistent to do what Jesus said in Mark 11:23,24; Luke 17:6; and John 15:7. But on the other hand, if we speak words of doubt, fear, and unbelief, we may establish bad situations and curcumstances in our life forever.

Ephesians 4:29 -- "...Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers."

HE GAVE ME POWER

John 1:12 - "But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name."

AND SO THE POWER TO BECOME SONS OF GOD DOES NOT COME FROM TRYING WITH OUR HUMAN WILL TO ACT IN A GODLY MANNER. OUR NEW BIRTH COMES AS WE ARE CHANGED BY THE INWARD ACTIONS OF GRACE.

Proverbs 1:7 - "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction."

Observation:

TO FEAR GOD IS TO LOVE HIM ABOVE ALL ELSE! IT IS THE WILLINGNESS TO OBEY GOD EVEN WHEN IT APPEARS MORE ADVANTAGEOUS FOR ME TO COMPROMISE OR NOT OBEY HIS WORD.

Psalm 85:9 - "Surely His salvation is nigh them that fear Him; that glory may dwell in our land."

Matthew 14:28,29 - "And Peter answered Him and said, 'Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.' And He said 'Come.' And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus."

Observation:

BREAKING THE POWER OF NATURAL LAW IN MY LIFE HAPPENS WHEN THE WORD OF GOD UNITES WITH MY MEASURE OF FAITH.

GETTING GOOD

Romans 10:10 - "For with the heart man beleiveth unto righteousness......."

Romans 5:17 - "For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ."

Paul makes two significant statements about righteousness:

1. With the heart man believes unto righteousness.

2. When we receive Jesus and we are born again, we receive "the gift of righteousness."

RIGHTEOUSNESS IS A GIFT

Too often we have associated righteousness with "good works." The Bible teaches good works and right conduct, but all of our good works and right conduct will never make us righteous. If good works made us righteous, we wouldn't need Jesus.

Another fallacy about righteousness is that we've thought we had to grow into some kind of "high spiritual state" to be righteous. We can grow in the Lord and we can develop spiritually, but we cannot grow in righteousness. We will never be any more righteous than we are right now!

2 Corinthians 5:17,21 - "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. For he hath made him (God has made Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him."

Matthew 6:33 -- "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

In Christ we become new creatures. In Him we become the righteousness of God when we are born again (verse 21).

This righteousness we are told to seek is not right behavior, but RIGHT STANDING before God, which comes to us as a gift when we receive salvation.

Romans 4:5 -- But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness.

We are not righteous because of how morally upright we are.
We are not righteous because we exercise self-control.
We are not righteous because we read 10 chapters of the Bible daily.
We are not righteous because we feel righteous.

JESUS' FINISHED WORK ON THE CROSS

We are the righteousness of God in Christ solely because the sacrifice of Jesus made us so. When we believe this, our faith is accounted for righteousness.

If we are righteous by our deeds, we don't need faith. We also don't need faith to know that we are sinful. But we do need faith to believe and declare that we are the righteousness of God in Christ, in the midst of our struggles with temptation and sin.

At the cross, Jesus didn't just remove our sins, He also gave us His righteousness so that today, we can come boldly before the throne of God and receive freely everything that He died to give us!

Affirmations:

I seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, not my own righteousness, and "all these things shall be added to me."

I expect good things to happen to me because blessings are on the head of the righteous (Proberbs 10:6).

I am righteous only because of the blood and finished work of Jesus at the cross.

FACING OUR NEED FOR GRACE

Matthew 6:13 - "And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one."

There is no temptation or sin in heaven. This prayer does not imply that God wants to tempt us.
We know from James 1:13 that it is impossible for God to entice us to sin. This kind of praying is important because it requires us to face our need for grace. It helps us to align our heart with heaven -- one of absolute dependency on God.
The phrase "deliver us from evil", as it is traditionally rendered, actually means, "deliver us from the evil one." A heart modeled after heaven has great success in spiritual warfare. Jesus was able to say, "satan has nothing in me." The believer is to be completely free from all satanic influence and attachments. That is the cry voiced in this prayer.

James 4:7 - So be subject to God. Resist the devil (stand firm against him), and he will flee from you.

John 8:32 - If you abide in My word, you are truly My disciples. And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free.

Some have thought being nice was of the same essence as knowing the truth.
It is not.
We can thank our parents that we are nice but, if we would know the truth, we must seek God and be willing to obey Him.
