ISAIAH 53 (Amplified Bible)

INTRODUCTION TO ISAIAH

Isaiah repeatedly warned his people that Jerusalem and Judah would be judged because of the prevailing wickedness. In addition to this message of impending doom, Isaiah offered assurance that those who would TRUST in GOD that ultimately the kingdom would be restored.

1 Who has believed (trusted in, relied upon and clung to) our message (of that which was revealed to us) ? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been disclosed ? (John 12:38-41)

2 For (the Servant of GOD) grew up before Him like a tender plant, and like a root out of dry ground (Isaiah 9, Daniel 7). He has no form or comeliness (royal, kingly pomp) that we should look at Him, and no beauty that we should desire Him.

3 He was DESPISED and REJECTED and FORSAKEN by men, a Man of sorrows, pains and acquainted with grief, sickness ; and like ONE from WHOM men hide their faces He was despised and we did not appreciate His WORTH or have any esteem for Him. (Messiah - JESUS CHRIST - our SAVIOUR).

WHAT HE DID FOR US

4 Surely (without doubt, without hesitation on JESUS part) - surely - the meaning - believe that, assuredly, without question.....He has borne OUR griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains (of punishment) yet we (ignorantly) considered Him stricken, smitten and afflicted BY GOD (Matthew 8:17) -

Matthew 8: 17: And Thus He FULFILLED what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah. He Himself took (in order to carry away) OUR...weaknesses and infirmities and bore away our diseases (Isaiah 53:4)

Isaiah 53:5 - He was wounded for OUR...transgressions (an act that goes against a law,....ten commandments.....rule, or code of conduct; an offence.. He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities ; the chastisement 1. To punish, as by beating. 2. To criticize severely; rebuke..... (needful to obtain) peace and well-being for US, was upon Him, and with the stripes (that wounded) we ARE healed and made whole.

Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone ASTRAY, we have turned everyone to his OWN way (I AM IS... the way, the truth and the life) ; and the LORD has made to light (laid on Him) the guilt and iniquity of us all (1 Peter 2:24, 25)

TURNING AWAY FROM SIN

When we give ALL our heart to JESUS CHRIST the healing process of moving away from sin begins.

LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL... YOUR HEART, WITH ALL...YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL....YOUR STRENGTH (This is a commitment on our part, active in moving away from sin and obtaining clean hands and a pure heart - Psalm 24) bringing WHOLENESS, COMPLETENESS - each day GOD completes us, not the world. Amen!

HOPE

1 Peter 2:24-25

24 He personally bore OUR sins in His (own body on the tree (as an altar and offered Himself on it) that we might die (cease to exist) to SIN and live to righteousness. By HIS wounds YOU have been healed.

25 For you WERE going astray like (so many) sheep, but NOW you have COME BACK to the Shepherd and Guardian (Bishop) of your souls (Isaiah 53:5-6)

PROMISE TO ALL PEOPLE

Isaiah 55:3

Incline your ear (submit and consent to the divine will) and come to Me ; hear and your soul will REVIVE ; and I will make an everlasting covenant or league with you, even the sure mercy (kindness, goodwill and compassion) promised to David (11 Sam 7:8, Acts 13:34, Hebrews 13:20)

Thank you LORD GOD that You died for us to set us FREE \0/ from our iniquities ( gross immorality or injustice; wickedness) and that Your love and mercy causes us to TURN to You forever more.

Amen!
