Studying the Word of God for mere knowledge’s sake allows one to become a “theologian.” We were not called to be scribes or theologians. We were called to be Disciples.

What separates a disciple from the theologian? Action is what separates the disciple from the theologian. Today we have many “theologians.”

No, I am not writing about those who have obtained a PHD in Theology. I am writing about the hundreds and thousands; perhaps millions who attend every “bible-study” and home group fellowship absorbing a wealth of knowledge and do nothing.

Jacob, AKA James, wrote about this type of person’s faith as being dead. What did he write to us?

James 1:22-25 reads, “But be ye doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the Word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass; For he beholdeth himself, and goeth away, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the Perfect Law of Liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”

When Messiah told us to go and make disciples of all nations, He was not telling us to go build buildings. And He was not instructing us to fill stadiums with people. Don’t misunderstand me; Evangelism is a vital part of reaching the lost. But making a bunch of converts without discipleship is disobedience.

The Word of God must call us into action as His Disciples. Here are basic questions we should ask as we study the Bible.

How do we God in this passage?

How can we apply what we are reading to our daily lives?

With whom are we going to share what we are reading and learning?

When we answer these questions honestly we are then called into action. If Faith without works is dead; then Faith with works is alive! Is your faith a living faith?

Continuing with today’s lesson…

What is the difference between the Gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven and the Gospel of Christ?

What are the 2 Events of Messiah?

Messiah Ben Joseph, the suffering servant…a great typology of Messiah’s 1st event

Messiah Ben David, The Ruling King of kings…
