Praying The Psalms - August 29, 2021

I give thanks to you, O God, for Your name is near.  I will declare it forever and sing praises for the blood of Jesus. (Psalm 75:1,9)

My horn will be lifted up as I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. (Psalm 75:10)

As a faithful steward of God's grace, I bring whatever gift I have received to serve others to the honor and praise of God. (Psalm 76:11)

In my day of trouble I will seek the Lord. My voice rises to God, and I will cry aloud; my voice rises to God, and He hears me as I trust in His faithfulness. (Psalm 77:1,2)

O God, I remember your deeds and meditate on your power and glory. You work wonders and give me strength in time of need. (Psalm 77:11,14,15)

My God, my rock, my redeemer, I am steadfast toward you and am faithful to your calling on my life. (Psalm 78:35,37)

I do not rebel or grieve you, O God, for I remember the day I received my salvation in Jesus. (Psalm 78:40-42)

I give glory to the God of my salvation who delivers me and has forgiven my sins according to the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Psalm 79:9)

I give thanks to God according to the greatness of His Name for preserving those sheep of His pasture that are in peril and are in praise of His power and compassion. (Psalm 79:11,13)

When misfortune arises, your countenance shines upon me and I am saved as I call upon your name. (Psalm 80:16,18,19)

Why pray the Psalm scriptures out loud?

It is hard to think about something other than what you are talking about.  Praying out loud the scriptures solves the problem of the wandering mind.  -- spoken words speak to the soul and have the power of raising thoughts in the soul. The Psalm scriptures speak of God in the Highest manner which most fully expresses the power and presence of God.

Strong's definition for "meditate" - HAGAH (Greek) - means to imagine.  First pray the scripture out loud -- then pray the scripture back to God.  This prayer can be the prayer of thanksgiving, supplication, or praying the greatness of God and the benefits of God.

The first thing that you are to do when you are upon your knees, is to shut your eyes, and with a short silence let your soul place itself in the presence of God.

When you direct any of your petitions to Jesus let it be: thou art the radiance of thy Father's glory.  Thou art the Alpha and Omega,  The beginning and the end of all things:  Thou has destroyed the power of the devil and hast overcome death.
