“Then He came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to Him, ‘Lord, are You washing my feet?’ Jesus answered and said to him, ‘What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.’ Peter said to Him, ‘You shall never wash my feet!’ Jesus answered him, ‘If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.’” – John 13:6-8
“You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.” - John 15:3
While Jesus was undoubtedly showing the disciples an example of serving others, He was also revealing a truth about what He has done for the believer. He has completely wiped us clean. He took the unclean and made us clean. The church has gotten caught up in a lack of faith in this. This is the number one problem facing the church that I see today. Lack of faith. He has already wiped us clean because we have heard His Word. After we are born again we don’t need to go to every altar call and every healing or deliverance service trying to obtain the feeling of being clean. We need to believe His Word concerning what He has called us and stand steadfast in the faith.
The position is too vastly taken that we are still broken, we are still incomplete, and we need more healing and impartation. We call this having humility. I wonder if the true humility we are seeking is letting grace make us all that it can. Church, the humility we are called to is to step back, stop leaning on our own understanding, and stand steadfast in the faith that because Jesus said we will never thirst again that we truly are fulfilled. If I live based upon the lie that I am incomplete and still sick, I lie and boast against the Truth. The reason we become reborn is because this reality can’t be lived from an old wineskin. The faith and reality we live from can no longer be lived from a mindset that expects to fall short or miss the mark. Because of Jesus, His children have been judged worthy to be dwelling place of God. Given that we are the dwelling place of God, why would we undermine that with the restrictive mindset that we will always be broken and need more? We are called to stand firm and live from the reality that we are filled and flooded with all the fullness of God and we are never lacking. We are to live from this reality regardless of what we see, hear, or feel.
The last thing the enemy wants is for us to have this revelation. He wants us distracted, trying to accomplish something that has already been accomplished. In this distracted state we will never walk worthy of the calling. If there is no walking in faith, then there is no walking in grace. We are saved by grace through faith. Generational curses don’t have to be cast out of us and we don’t have to seek healing from a past relationship. We’ve been wiped clean by Jesus. The past is dead and has no influence on who we are after we’ve been born again. Faith is now. Believing we stand healed, sanctified, righteous, and are never lacking right now is living from the reality of the finished work of the Cross. At this point we know the Truth and the Truth has set us free! The heart remains free of any compartments that are open to falling short or being less than Christ. The heart is pure, and you will see God because of it! Praise God!
