GETTING GOOD
Romans 10:10 - "For with the heart man beleiveth unto righteousness......."
Romans 5:17 - "For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ."
Paul makes two significant statements about righteousness:
1. With the heart man believes unto righteousness.
2. When we receive Jesus and we are born again, we receive "the gift of righteousness."
RIGHTEOUSNESS IS A GIFT
Too often we have associated righteousness with "good works." The Bible teaches good works and right conduct, but all of our good works and right conduct will never make us righteous. If good works made us righteous, we wouldn't need Jesus.
Another fallacy about righteousness is that we've thought we had to grow into some kind of "high spiritual state" to be righteous. We can grow in the Lord and we can develop spiritually, but we cannot grow in righteousness. We will never be any more righteous than we are right now!
2 Corinthians 5:17,21 - "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. For he hath made him (God has made Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him."
Matthew 6:33 -- "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
In Christ we become new creatures. In Him we become the righteousness of God when we are born again (verse 21).
This righteousness we are told to seek is not right behavior, but RIGHT STANDING before God, which comes to us as a gift when we receive salvation.
Romans 4:5 -- But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness.
We are not righteous because of how morally upright we are.
We are not righteous because we exercise self-control.
We are not righteous because we read 10 chapters of the Bible daily.
We are not righteous because we feel righteous.
JESUS' FINISHED WORK ON THE CROSS
We are the righteousness of God in Christ solely because the sacrifice of Jesus made us so. When we believe this, our faith is accounted for righteousness.
If we are righteous by our deeds, we don't need faith. We also don't need faith to know that we are sinful. But we do need faith to believe and declare that we are the righteousness of God in Christ, in the midst of our struggles with temptation and sin.
At the cross, Jesus didn't just remove our sins, He also gave us His righteousness so that today, we can come boldly before the throne of God and receive freely everything that He died to give us!
Affirmations:
I seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, not my own righteousness, and "all these things shall be added to me."
I expect good things to happen to me because blessings are on the head of the righteous (Proberbs 10:6).
I am righteous only because of the blood and finished work of Jesus at the cross.
FAITH BUILDING OF YOUR SPIRIT
Matthew 12:34,35 -- ....."For out of the fullness (the overflow, the superabundance) of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man from his inner good treasure flings forth good things, and the evil man out of his inner evil storehouse flings forth evil things."
Words won't work without faith any more than faith will work without words! It takes them both to put the law of faith in motion.
As Matthew 12:34-35 says, it's the words that come from the heart that produce results. The person who just throws in a couple of faith words now and then isn't speaking them from the abundance of his heart, so they're not effective.
Does that mean you shouldn't start speaking words of faith until you're sure you have the faith to back them?
No! Speaking words of faith is good spiritual exercise. If you want to receive healing by faith, for example, fasten your mind and your mouth on the Word of God where your health is concerned. Instead of talking about how miserable you feel, quote Isaiah 53:5. Say, "Jesus was wounded for my transgressions. He was bruised for my iniquities. The chastisement of my peace was upon Him; and with His stripes, praise God, I was healed!"
If you'll continue to meditate on those words and continue to say them, the truth in them will begin to sink in. They'll take root in your heart (spirit) and begin to grow. And eventually you really will be speaking from the abundance of your heart (spirit).
When that happens, it won't matter what the circumstances look like. You'll know you have what you've been believing for and the devil himself won't be able to talk you out of it. You'll cross the line from hope to faith, and you'll start seeing those mountains move.
EATING AT THE FATHER'S TABLE
Matthew 14:26 - To this Jesus replied "it is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs."
IT IS THE PRIVILEGE OF CHILDREN TO EAT AT THE TABLE WITH THEIR FATHER AND FROM HIS DISH, WHICH IS TO SHARE IN HIS SPIRIT; BUT THE DOGS MUST EAT THE CRUMBS THAT FALL FROM THE TABLE.
Psalms 59: 14,15 - "And at evening let them return; and let them make an noise like a dog, and go round about the city. Let them wander up and down for meat, and tarry if they be not satisfied."
Luke 22:24 - "Now an eager contention arose among them as to which of them was considered and reputed to be the greatest."
Observation:
I AM NOT AT REST IN HIM IF I AM LOOKING ABOUT TO SEE HOW HE IS DEALING WITH OTHERS. NOR AM I AT HIS SERVICE TO BRING THE GRACE OF COMPASSION TO THEM, IF I HAVE TAKEN A HIGHER SEAT .
Luke 22:26 - But this is not the way it is with you; rather, the greatest one among you must be like the youngest, and the leader must be like the servant.
Romans 12:2 - "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
THE TERRITORY OF THE UNCRUCIFIED THOUGHT-LIFE IS THE BEACHHEAD OF SATANIC ASSAULT IN MY LIFE. TO DEFEAT THE DEVIL, I MUST BE RENEWED IN THE SPIRIT OF MY MIND!
DEPENDENCE ON GOD
Isaiah 66:2 - "To this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word."
THE HEBREW WORD FOR LOOK IS "NABAT" WHICH MEANS TO REGARD, PAY ATTENTION TO, OR TO ESTEEM.
THE ONE WHO GETS GOD'S FAVORABLE ATTENTION IS POOR OR HUMBLE. HUMILITY IS NOT BEING WEAK, WIMPY OR SPINELESS. IN FACT OFTEN THE TRULY HUMBLE ARE MISTAKEN FOR ACTING ARROGANT. DAVID WAS ACCUSED OF BEING ARROGANT AND FULL OF PRIDE BY HIS OLDER BROTHER, ELIAB, WHO HAD BEEN REJECTED BY GOD FOR THE VERY THING HE ACCUSED DAVID OF (1 SAMUEL 17:26,28). BUT GOD CALLED DAVID A MAN AFTER HIS OWN HEART.
A HUMBLE PERSON IS UTTERLY DEPENDANT ON GOD. THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING WITHOUT HIM. THUS, THEY SEEK HIS DESIRE AND WILL IN EVERYTHING.
CONTRITENESS IS LIKENED TO BROKENNESS. TO BE BROKEN HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WEAKNESS, BUT WITH SUBMISSION TO AUTHORITY.
Psalm 51:16,17 - " For you do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart - These, O God, You will not despise."
DEFENDING OURSELVES
Romans 8:33 -- "Who shall bring a charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies."
Mark 15:3 -- "And the chief priest accused Him of many things, but He answered nothing."
Why didn't Jesus defend Himself?
The reason: to remain under His Father's judgment and thus His protection.
When we refuse to defend ourselves we are hidden under the hand of God's grace and judgment. There is no safer place.
I contrast, those who defend themselves come under the jurisdiction of their accusers and their judgment, and thus they forfeit divine intervention.
The moment I justify and defend myself I yield to my accuser as judge. I forfeit my spiritual right of protection, for He (my accuser) rises above me in the realm of the spirit as I answer His criticism. His influence is elevated by my self-defense. By attempting to prove my innocence, I am at the mercy of my accuser.
1 Peter 2:23 -- "He (Jesus) did not retaliate when He was insulted. When He suffered, He did not threaten to get even. He left His case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly."
CALLING DOWN THE FIRE OF GOD
"Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from Heaven and consume them?" (Luke 9:54).
It is interesting that Jesus does not reply to them, "You can't call down the fire of God" or "I don't want you to call down the fire of God." No, Jesus says to His disciples, "You don't know what your hearts are like. For the Son of Man has not come to destroy men's lives but to save them" (Luke 9:55-56).
James and John wanted to call the fire of God down upon the Samaritans to punish them for turning them away. But what Jesus wanted was for James and John to know God's heart for the Samaritans – His love for them. Because if they did, they would not want to call the fire of God down upon the Samaritans, but instead upon the things of the enemy that had caused the Samaritans to take offense and which stole from them a visitation of the Lord Jesus Christ.
HIS BURNING LOVE FOR ALL
The fire of God is His burning love for all people and all places for all time. When we connect to God's heart -- when we know His love for people -- no matter what they've done, where they've been, or how they're behaving -- we can call forth the fire of God upon the things of the enemy that are stealing the fullness of God from them.
The Lord wants to empower us to call His fire into the earth. And it all begins by knowing His heart and His love for all people and all places at all times.
PRAYER DIRECTIVES:
So let's pray for the Body of Christ that:
1. We will know the heart of the Lord like never before – the height, the width, the depth, and the breadth of His love for all people and all places at all times.
2. We will be a people who are unoffendable. That no matter how we are treated, we will refuse offense and continue to love.
3. We will make love our highest aim, and love others as we are loved by the Lord.
4. We will call down the fire of God upon the altars of our lives, asking the Lord to burn up every wicked, arrogant or selfish thing in us.
5.We will be His Burning Ones, ablaze with His love and calling the fire of God down upon anything of the enemy that would steal the fullness of who God is and what He has for anyone we encounter and every place we go.
BECOMING A PARTAKER
Romans 10:9,10 - "Because if you shall confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and shall believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved."
When we confess His Lordship, it not only His dominion over us, but "lord" means Leader, "the bread-provider," the caretaker, the protector from all our enemies. You actually become a partaker of the Divine Nature. (2 Peter 1:4).
As you become a partaker of His Nature, you become a partaker of His ability:
1. God's ability becomes your ability
2. God's strength becomes your strength
3. Jesus' ministry becomes your ministry.
When we acknowledge Him as our Lord, then God becomes automatically our very Father. All the resources of Heaven are at our disposal (Ephesians 1:3) to:
1. Minister others into christ.
2. Disciple them
3. Equip them to disciple others
Affirmations:
I HAVE POWER TO LABOR FOR THE SPIRITUAL LIVES OF OTHERS.
I MINISTER OTHERS INTO CHRIST, DISCIPLE THEM, AND EQUIP THEM TO DISCIPLE OTHERS.
SINCE I AM GOD "INSIDED MINDED" I CONFESS -- GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN ME THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD.
A HIGHER REALM
Galatians 5:16 - "But I say, walk by the Spirit, and do not gratify the desires of the flesh."
Affirmations:
I AM DEVELOPING MY OWN HUMAN SPIRIT, AND I AM BECOMING MORE SENSITIVE TO THE SPIRIT OF GOD.
I HAVE ACCEPTED THE CALL OF GOD TO LEAVE THE LOW LIFE BEHIND, AND I AM FOLLOWING THE SPIRIT OF GOD TO A HIGHER REALM, WHERE I WILL LIVE IN CONTINUAL PEACE, JOY, AND VICTORY.
Luke 18:9 - "He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and despised others."
LIKE ALL EXPEDITIONS, MY JOURNEY STARTS WITH A DEPARTURE. LONG BEFORE I EVER ARRIVE AT HOLINESS, I MUST DEPART FROM SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS AND PRIDE.
Romans 6:18 - "Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness."
Observation:
SINCE I HAVE GIVEN MY LIFE TO JESUS, THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD HAS BEEN IMPARTED TO ME. BECAUSE THROUGH JESUS, I RECEIVED GOD'S NATURE. SIN AND THE DOMINION OF SATAN CANNOT HAVE AUTHORITY OVER ME BECAUSE JESUS IS MY LORD.
YOUR DREAMS WILL COME TRUE
Proverbs 13:12 - "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when dreams come true, there is life and joy."
WITHOUT GOD HOPE IS REDUCED TO THE POWERLESS LEVEL OF FATE.
WHILE LIFE CAN TAKE PEOPLE FROM HOPE TO DISSAPPOINTMENT THE GOD OF HOPE LEADS PEOPLE IN THE OTHER DIRECTION.
NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCES LOOK LIKE FOR YOU, THE HEART OF GOD IS THAT YOUR DREAMS WILL COME TRUE.
Affirmations
WHEN DISCOURAGEMENT STARTS TO SET IN I FOCUS ON GOD AND THE INTEGRITY OF WHAT HIS WORD PROMISES BELIEVERS.
I SPEAK WORDS THAT BRING HOPE AND LIFE TO OTHERS.
I LIVE MY LIFE WITH FORWARD EXPECTATION AND SEE ALL MY DREAMS COME TRUE IN HIM.
Hebrews 4:16 - "Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need."
The Holy Spirit was sent to convict us of sin, and He will point out our sin.
The remedy is to repent. Repentance is not just turning away from the sin, but it is turning to the Lord. If we only take a half step of turning from the sin, we will fall again.
We must turn to the Lord, fleeing to the power of His cross, beholding His glory and nature. Then we will be changed.
He INCREASES in us as we behold His glory, NOT our own shortcomings.
WALKING IN OUR INHERITANCE
Romans 10:9,10 - "Because if you shall confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and shall believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved."
When we confess His Lordship, it is not only His dominion over us, but "lord" means Leader, "the bread-provider," the caretaker, the protector from all our enemies.
2. Disciple them.
3. Equip them to disciple others.
QUESTIONS TO ASK MYSELF:
Am I willing to DISCIPLE a new believer into his inheritance in Christ?
Do I believe that equipping believers to DISCIPLE others is the most valuable spiritual instruction I can give?
AFFIRMATIONS:
I have power to labor for the spiritual lives of others.
I minister others into Christ, disciple them, and equip them to disciple others.
Since I am God "insided minded" I confess -- greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.
THE VEIL OF THE SELF-LIFE
Luke 23:44-46 - "By now it was about midday and a darkness fell over the whole land, whch lasted until three in the afternoon; the sun's light failed. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Then Jesus gave a loud cry and said, 'Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit'; and with these words he died."
WHEN THE VEIL OF SELF CLOAKS OUR HEARTS, OUR PERCEPTIONS ARE STAINED BY THE BASIC SELFISH ORIENTATION OF OUR NATURE.
BUT WHEN ONE TURNS TO THE LORD, THE VEIL OF SELF-LIFE, LIKE THE VEIL IN THE TEMPLE, IS TORN IN TWO. THIS IS NOT THE CUTTING OF SOME THIN CLOTH BUT THE TEARING OF THE HEART, THE SPLITTING IN TWO OF THE TIGHTLY WOVEN FABRIC OF SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS AND SELF-CONSCIOUSNESS.
IT IS A VIOLENT RENDING, A PUTTING TO DEATH, OF THE UNREGENERATED SELF-NATURE.
2 Corinthians 3:16 - But whenever a man turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
Luke 13:20,21 - "To what shall I liken the kingdom of God? It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three mearures of meal till it was all leavened."
MUCH LIKE LIGHT THAT EXPOSES, OR SALT THAT PRESERVES, LEAVEN INFLUENCES ITS SURROUNDINGS IN A SUBTLE BUT OVERPOWERING WAY. SO IT IS WITH THE INFILTRATING POWER OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD.
WITHOUT A REVELATION OF GOD'S PURPOSE FOR OUR LIFE AND OUR CALLING IN CHRIST, WE CANNOT MOVE IN OVERCOMING FAITH.
WHEN THE MAIN GOAL OF OUR FAITH IS TO KEEP US SAFE FROM THE DEVIL, OUR FAITH BECOMES INFERIOR TO WHAT GOD EXPECTS. JESUS HAD IN MIND MORE FOR US THAN SURVIVAL. WE ARE DESTINED TO OVERCOME.
EVERY CONVERSION PLUNDERS HELL. EVERY MIRACLE DESTROYS THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL. EVERY GOD ENCOUNTER IS AN "INVASION OF THE ALMIGHTY" INTO OUR DESPERATE CONDITION. THIS IS OUR JOY.
Revelation 12:11 - "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death."
As we trim our lamps and go outside the realm of familiarity and meet Him we encounter the Bridegroom -- our Magnificent Obsession. He is eternal life! First Timothy 6:12 says, "Lay hold on eternal life." This means to take hold of, to grasp, to…Continue
